Not all euro cylinders are burglar resistant and approved by the Police or insurance companies. Do you know how to upgrade front door lock and back door lock to British Standards?

BS 3621 is a Police-approved standard for locks that have been tested and certified to be highly resistant against being picked or forced. Such locks are Police-approved and commonly required by insurance companies.

Does your lock do the job?

High security locks have anti-snap, anti-bump and anti-drill features and they bear a Kitemark.

There are two ways to check if your locks are compliant with BS 3621 standard:

  • Look for a Kitemark on your lock
  • Look for a British Standard Number on your lock

If you are still not sure if your front and back door locks meet the British Standard, do not wait and type “locksmith near me”, “locksmith in my area” or “local locksmith” in your browser and contact them as soon as possible. Professional locksmith services are closer than you think. For example, if you stay in South East London, there’s no easier way to go than to search for “Beckenham and Bromley locksmith”.

What next

If it turns out that your locks do not comply with the British standard, you have no choice but to get them replaced. Make sure to invest in trusted brands such as Yale, Era or Ultion and always choose local, professional locksmith services.
